New site lets you rate film festivals

October 20, 2009

I found out today that a new site, Sqirrl, will allow filmmakers to rate film festivals.

Although the site is relatively new so not every festival is yet listed, one of the side benefits of this will be a great site that will eventually list most festivals making it one of the first really comprehensive festival guides (a lot of festival guides say they are but tend to leave out many festivals).

Currently the highest listed festival is Sedona International Film Festival. The fest has received the top 5 nut rating and has numerous comments from filmmakers. Filmmakers can comment on accomodations, fest audience to parties and transportation.

The unfortunate thing that may occur with this site are the bitter rejected filmmakers who may use the site as a chance to slam the fest for not accepting them. I hope that the filmmakers use the site only after attending a festival, not just to rant and rave about rejections.

Anyways, if you are a filmmaker and have been to a fest you want to comment on, visit
