Gotham Awards announced

Gotham Independent Film Awards announced nominees today for its Nov. 30 awards ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Considered the beginning of the Oscars season, IFP showcases some of the strongest independent film from the year. Among the big nominees for 2009 are “The Hurt Locker” and “Big Fan” with three nods each. Missing from any of the categories is  “An Education” and “Precious,” both thought to have possibly received a nomination.

Luckily, Soulémane Sy Savané, of “Goodbye Solo” received a nod for his outstanding performance but Jeremy Renner of “The Hurt Locker” is a frontrunner for the category.
