Local to shoot video on courthouse lawn today

Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 4:00 o’clock p.m. on the Lafayette County south lawn, Oxford resident Landon Huey will hold a press conference to announce his candidacy for the postion of Caretaker of the Great Barrier Reef Islands.  This position was created by the Tourism Board of Queensland, Australia to promote interest in and tourism to the Reef.

The Caretaker position has a tenure of six months and begins July 1, 2009 and lasts until January 1, 2010.  The successful candidate will be flown from his or her capital city to and from Queensland.

Mr. Huey will be filming his one minute video as required by the Tourism Board for his application during the press conference on Thursday.  Ten candidates will be chosen by the Tourism Board.  One candidate will be chosen by the world as a “wild card” candidate from the videos submitted on the Board’s website for the Caretaker position,

Voting begins March 2nd for the “wild card” slot.
