Tupelo Film Festival Posts Full Schedule

May 11, 2008

Tupelo Film Festival has posted its full schedule of events along with the original movie schedule (you can check the film schedule out here).

To warm up the Tupelo Film Festival, movie lovers can see Troll 2 at Vanelli’s on Tuesday, May 13th from 8-9:30 p.m. The best part, besides seeing one of the funniest/worst/best horror movies ever is that it is free!

On Wednesday, May 14th the documentaries of jurors Mimi Freedman, Harris Salomon and Elvin Whitesides will be shown. Freedman will premiere her Elvis: The Early Years 90 minute documentary.

On Thursday, May 15th, the film festival has its main kickoff with movies at the Lyric theatre from 11-6pm. A special outdoor screening of Adrian Belic’s Genghis Blues will be held at the Lee County Courthouse Lawn with BBQ by Romie’s Grocery for $8 a plate. The movie is free and Belic will be in attendance.

On Friday, May 16th more movies will be screened at the Lyric from 11-4 with a special panel discussion at 4 (no admission fee) with Saturday’s workshop presenters. Then from 5-5:30 Don Tingle will present the works from his February film workshop. From 6:45-11:30, movies will continue at the Lyric.

Saturday starts with three exciting workshops. Dennis Bounds of Regent University will discuss “Everything You Need to Know About Writing a Screenplay” while Phillip Gentile of USM will discuss “Camera-Less Animation Workshop.” Then Michael Chaney, of Savannah College of Art and Design, will discuss “Filmmaking 101: An Introduction to Making Movies.”

Movies will play from 1-9 with the awards ceremony to follow.

On Sunday, Beyond the Call will screen with director Adrian Belic and Dr. Jim Laws at the Link Centre. The film screening is free and if you have yet to see the film, this is the time to see it. Having the opportunity to meet Dr. Laws is going to be a real treat!
